ACCESS air ambulance provides a wide range of care from advanced cardiac life support to neonatal resuscitation. Our ACCESS team transfers patients in fully-equipped, medically configured aircraft which are comparable to hospital intensive care units.
We remain at the patient’s side until they reach the receiving facility, providing best in class medical care and expertise along the way. Our critical care medical teams are able to transport and provide full resuscitative capabilities for virtually any patient condition, including:
- High-Risk OB
- Traumatic Brain Injuries
- Spinal Cord Injuries
- Infectious Diseases
Our medical crews routninely respond to clinics and remote regional facilities. Interfacility transport of the patients from the NWT communties to local and interprovincial secondary and tertiary trauma centers and higher levels of patient care are frequently performed depending upon patient needs and resource allocations.
In some cases a known patient at a known location such as a remote lake or cabin requires our care. Our team responds with our twin otters or other contract aircraft to these remote scenes.
Because pregnancy, childbirth and pediatric transports can pose unusual complications, our teams are provided extensive specialty education. All of crews have been trained in PALS/NRP and the STABLE program. For high risk, obstetrical and newborn air medical missions Fetal heart monitoring and isolettes are utilized.
ACCESS Air Medical crews are guided by a physician board-certified in emergency medicine on all missions and contact specialist physicians such as neonatologists, pediatric intensivists or a high risk obstetrical specialists.
